Summer Piano Festival

Summer Piano Festival (Ages 8-14)

Join us for five days of activities designed to bring pianists together in a fun, interactive piano ensemble program. Participants enjoy the social aspects of playing in an ensemble with one another, as well as learning the skills to play in a small group.

Program Features:

• Open to any pianist, ages 8-14 (you do not need to study at WCMS to participate)
• Each student is coached daily in a 4-, 6-, or 8-hand piano ensemble
• Build musicianship skills that go far beyond what is taught in your weekly piano lesson
• Core classes and workshops will include piano repertoire, music theory, piano technique, sight reading, and composition
• Lunchtime games, fun musical activities, and talent show
• Final concert for family and friends at the end of the program!

Enrollment Information: An audition is mandatory for everyone. Participants must have at least two years of private lesson experience, and be age 8–14 as of June 1. Please complete an Audition Form to bring with you to the audition.

Audition Dates: Sign up online for a 15-minute time slot. Previous participants will be contacted in early February to sign up; new participants can sign up starting February 24.

• Friday, May 2, 5:15-6:45 PM
• Saturday, May 3, 2:00-5:30 PM

* If unable to make the scheduled audition dates, please contact WCMS to arrange an alternate date.

Audition Requirements:

• Applicants should play one major or minor scale of their choice
• One polished piece
• Assessment of music theory knowledge
• Sight reading

Once the audition process has been completed and you have been notified of acceptance into the program, our registrar will contact you to complete the enrollment process.

Please note that construction will be underway at the school this summer as we expand our facility. We will work to minimize the impact on school operations and prioritize safety at all times.
