I first saw a piano in kindergarten at the age of five, and was immediately fascinated by its magical sound. My parents let me take piano class for one semester, after which my piano teacher suggested that my parents find a private instructor for me. From then until the end of high school, I studied with professors Fanghua Ou and Xian Wang of the Wuhan Conservatory.
I went on to earn bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Piano Performance at New England Conservatory, under the guidance of renowned pianist Vivian Hornik Weilerstein. During those years, as an active performer of piano and chamber music, I toured in Europe, China, and the United States. I was selected to perform Scriabin’s Sonata No. 2 at Jordan Hall on the 100th anniversary of Scriabin’s death. I have also participated in several music festivals including the Ecoles d’Art Américaines de Fontainebleau (France), Kneisel Hall Chamber Festival, and Bowdoin International Music Festival. As a recipient of a NEC Community Performances Partnership Fellowship, I have presented a number of outreach performances at community and retirement centers. I have also served as an accompanist at NEC and its preparatory school.
I have always felt fortunate to study piano and become a musician. After years of study, I want to share my love and knowledge of piano music with my students. My goal is to awaken and nurture musical interest and artistic excellence; to teach solid musical and technical skills; to accommodate each individual student’s needs and learning style; and to make the learning process joyful and interactive.
