We sincerely believe that music theory is an essential aspect of a well-rounded musical education, and our goal is to instill a deep appreciation and understanding of music in all our students. In our Music Theory: Fundamentals classes we start with the essential building blocks of music and move on to advanced concepts, following the syllabus of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music.
Students will have develop a better understanding of the way music works and how to perform with greater musicianship and sensitivity. Our aim is to create a nurturing and engaging environment for all participants.
Online (Zoom). In this introductory theory class, all ages are welcome: kids (7+), teens, and adults. The course covers essential topics including staff and notes introduction, understanding bass clef, accidentals, time signatures, rhythmic patterns, and more. This class is a great supplement to private music lessons or for parents who want to better understand what their children are learning.

An “adult version” of our Fundamentals classes, held in person. Based upon the class participants’ basic knowledge of theory concepts, we’ll cover a variety of topics to help you better understand the nuts and bolts of music fundamentals. Concepts will include clef reading, key signatures, intervals, ear training, and rhythm. We’ll dig deeper as time and interest allows. This class is a great supplement to your own private music lessons or for parents who want to better understand what their children are learning.
