Registration is Now Open! Spring Semester 2025
For strings, woodwinds, brass, and piano.
Performing in a chamber music ensemble is one of the most rewarding and enjoyable experiences for a musician. Students expand their overall musicianship, technique, and performance skills. In the past, we have programmed chamber music repertoire such as Beethoven string quartets, Haydn string trios, Dvorak piano trios, Ibert woodwind trios, and Mozart piano quartets.
Chamber groups will be coached by members of our piano and string faculty. Each ensemble will be created by matching the level, age, and skill of the musicians who perform a successful audition, and scheduled based on the availability of coaches and participants. We welcome grade school children (ages 8+), teens, and adults.
Two pieces in contrasting styles (one slow and one fast) or one piece with two contrasting movements (slow and fast). Two scales of student’s choice. Please submit a Chamber Ensemble Audition Form with your audition.
If you’re interested in participating, please fill out an Ensemble Inquiry Form or call 781-721-2950 for more information or to arrange an audition.
Upon successful completion of an audition, students will be organized into ensembles based on level and day/time availability. Tuition is due when the groups have been scheduled.
The Saturday Program provides an opportunity for students to further enhance their musical growth and small ensemble skills. Students are matched into four levels by age and playing ability, from early elementary through high school. This program allows students to explore chamber repertoire more deeply and raise their level of musical expression and artistry.
Each level of ensemble meets for 90 minutes of instruction. Sixty minutes of each session includes ensemble coaching with one of our piano or string faculty members who have a passion for performing chamber music. The additional 30 minutes are spent in guided rehearsal with an experienced teaching assistant who will work on ensemble skills, tuning, and warm-ups to reinforce what is covered in the weekly coaching. Each ensemble will have a performance at the end of the semester. There may be additional performance opportunities as well.
Two pieces in contrasting styles (one slow and one fast) or one piece with two contrasting movements (slow and fast). Two scales of student’s choice.
Students currently in the WCMS chamber ensemble program do not need to audition. Interested new students should fill out an Ensemble Inquiry Form or call 781-721-2950 for more information.
