Intro to Voice Works is a new class offered exclusively to third grade girls. Designed as an introduction to Voice Works I , this ensemble if for girls who love to sing and want to learn how to do it better! While singing age appropriate repertoire, participants will work on the fundamentals of tone, rhythm and diction while developing poise and
self-confidence.  Ability to sing on pitch is required.

Voice Works I

For girls in grades 4 and 5
Wednesday 3:30-4:30 PM

In Voice Works I, a fun choral ensemble, you work to develop proper vocal technique and build musicianship skills. We sing great music in popular and classical styles with an emphasis on 2-part singing, rounds, and partner songs. Students are introduced to a variety of types of vocal music—choral, a cappella, opera, and musicals. This ensemble is a wonderful girls-only experience that helps build self-esteem and teamwork in a supportive environment. The ability to sing on pitch is necessary.  The final session of each semester will be a performance.

Voice Works performs at various venues in the Winchester community. Class size is limited.

Placement Auditions: Arranged: Call or email WCMS to set up an audition appointment to take place on Wednesday, February 1.

Audition Requirements: Students should be prepared to sing "My Country Tis of Thee," match pitch, and perform simple rhythm patterns.  Students returning to Voice Works from last year do not need to audition and should register for the ensemble.

Voice Works II

For girls in grade 6
Prerequisite: Voice Works I (or permission of instructor)
Wednesday 4:30-5:30 PM

Voice Works II builds upon skills learned in Voice Works I, but includes solo singing as well as ensemble singing. The students will be coached on stage deportment and audition techniques to help build presentation skills. An important aspect of the class is the opportunity for each singer to explore her voice in a supportive and noncompetitive environment. This ensemble is an excellent foundation for future vocal study and involvement in staged productions. The ability to sing on pitch is necessary. The final session of each semester will be a performance.

Placement Auditions: Arranged: Call or email WCMS to set up an audition appointment to take place on Wednesday, February 1.
